You showed up fifteen minutes early. Awesome for you, unfortunately not all employers feel the same way. It can be annoying for an employer to have an interview show up while they are still trying to finish up the interview before you. It’s good to be punctual, and even early in most cases. Five minutes early is acceptable. If you show up earlier than that, just sit in your car for a few minutes. Listen to the radio and meditate on why you are the best candidate for the job. Then five minutes before your scheduled interview, head on in.

Next, let’s cover your interview attire. Your hair is neat and combed; you put on your best shirt and favorite “nice” jeans. O.K….. Let’s talk about the “nice jeans”. I hate to break this to so many of you, but jeans are almost never acceptable for an interview. It almost rules you out before you even get a chance to say anything. Yes if you are applying for a job as a cowboy or related field it’s appropriate. For almost every other job on the planet it’s not. At the very least pull out a pair of khaki’s for the interview. Employer’s look at your appearance as a reflection of how you might dress on the job or represent the company. You don’t want to come across as too casual or sloppy. Even if you know the office is generally casual and the person interviewing you is wearing jeans, you don’t want to make any assumptions about expectations for the interview process. After you have the job offer, ask what the appropriate dress is for the business. As a tip, it’s good to have a “go to” interview outfit and try to make it something that you feel comfortable in.

Now let’s move on to the interview chit chatting. It is always a good idea to find something to relate to the interviewer about. This shows the interviewer that you would fit in with the office. It’s not a good idea to engage in overly long discussions that are unrelated to the position available. You only have a short time to impress someone enough to be offered the job. Try not to waste too much time discussing items that are not going to get you the job. While they may “like” you, the job will end up going to someone else that is more “qualified”. Let’s discuss the rules of interview chit chat. No politics, religion, or any type of a private story that is best left for happy hour with your friends.

Now that you have these easy to follow rules for your next interview, get working on your resume, pull your interview outfit together and practice for your next interview. Good luck on the job hunt.

Ever since I got my Bachelor’s Degree, I found it virtually impossible to get entry level jobs. For example, screeners for grocery stores, fast food establishments, and companies that tend to have plentiful job openings all told me that I was “overqualified”. How can you be overqualified to bag customer purchases and stock shelves? Unfortunately, if you have a bachelor’s degree that doesn’t offer a lot of job opportunities without continuing further, you may find yourself having to build a career without relying on your degree to help you command a higher salary. This, in turn, creates a position where your employment options are not much better than those of a high school dropout.

There is no question that today’s floundering economy makes being overqualified even more problematic than it used to be. In fact, I firmly believe that that not being able to effectively get lower ranking jobs will, in fact, be one of the key final death knells of the economy. Today, every single person that has lost a job, or remains unemployed is in serious need of rebuilding and regaining a financial footing based in reliable employment. This simply will not happen if you go on waiting for lost job sectors to return.

Chances are you find it hard to understand why knowing what needs to be done doesn’t automatically translate into concrete and effective action. When it comes to being overqualified, there are very few resources that actually give you a blueprint. At best, your college counselors, and even labor representatives will help you polish your resume, or show you ways to improve your performance during an interview. What they most likely won’t do is tell you how to gear each part of your job hunting process to overcoming issues associated with being overqualified. As may be expected, when you don’t know how to do something, you will make a lot of mistakes, and eventually feel that finding a job is impossible.

I will never tell you that rebuilding your career is easy. I have done it three times; and each time was a struggle I could have done without. Nevertheless, what I learned over the years amounts to a literal treasure trove of advice on how to get a job when you are overqualified. If you need a blueprint, then let me show you what needs to be done. I sincerely hope that you will visit my website, and learn more about my ebook, Overcoming the Overqualified Myth. If you can’t get a job, and don’t know where to start, this book will take you from the initial phone call right through post-interview follow up.

Often our response when someone says ‘Tell me about yourself’ is to talk about what we do but not so much about who we are, but, when you go for a job interview for example, you will be expected to talk about your strengths. In marketing terms, you need to know what your USP is (Unique Selling Proposition)!

Exercise

Write a list of your 10 POSITIVE qualities.

Find 15 minutes in the day when you can sit quietly and make you list and don’t forget, a quality isn’t the same as a skill: being a good listener is a skill as it’s something we can learn but what qualities do you need to have in order to be a good listener? You probably need to be patient, supportive…. Get the idea? So if you come up with things like ‘I’m a good friend’ ‘I’m a great mother’, ask yourself what qualities lie behind this.

As you’re writing your list avoid the mental qualifications of “but I’m not that all the time” or “I’m only like that if things are going well” etc etc!! If this quality is something you express generally in your life, then put it down!

And don’t give up when you’ve got 4 because it’s difficult! Press on and make sure you get at least 10 qualities. I have used this exercise with groups over many years and it is almost always a struggle for women to get to 10 whereas when I do the exercise with men, most have no trouble coming up with a list of 15+!! No, this doesn’t mean that men have more qualities than women but it does demonstrate that women, generally, lack confidence in themselves and what they have to offer the world.

And when you have your list, what do you do with it? Certainly keep it so you can take it to interviews and meetings with the bank manager. I know of women who have typed out coloured versions and keep in next to their computer, written it up on big sheets of paper and stuck it to their bathroom mirror or put post-it notes all over their fridge! Even if you have to keep it in a drawer as you don’t want your family to see it, get it out and read it when you are feeling low and remind yourself what a great woman you are!

TOP TIP

If you want to add to your list, why not show it to a friend whose opinion you trust? I guarantee they will agree with everything you have put and will be able to add more.

You may have just graduated from college and you are eager to jump into the workforce, so you make your choice based on your desire to move forward into adulthood. In other instances though, you may have a bit of time to consider some things that may otherwise not seem as important. You may be young enough to look at all of the options before deciding which career path is going to work for you. You may be changing careers and while you continue to work in one field, you can explore your options in another. Regardless of your reason for considering the career path which you should head down, there are a number of aspects to look at beside just what you will be getting paid. Take for instance, Scottsdale jobs in CNA or San Diego Jobs in CNA. Both of these options pay a good living wage, but they come with other benefits as well.

First, you will be working with people and helping them improve their health. There is the benefit of feeling as if you are making a difference and helping others if you choose work like this. There are also other benefits to working in the healthcare field which usually include work security, paid time off, and quality health insurance benefits. Because you are working in a healthcare field, you often have access to care benefits other employment may not provide.

If healthcare work is not for you, it is still important to consider the benefits of other employment. Even if you are not interested in helping others heal, you may want the ability to focus on your own health and well-being. Many companies are realizing this and they are including things like alternative health treatments, fitness memberships, and healthy living options into their benefits packages. You may be making the same wage as you would somewhere else, but if a company offers you a gym membership, weekly on-site chair massage, and nutrition counseling workshops, you are surely getting a greater benefit than just the hourly wage.

The same is true for companies that are able to share perks with you like tickets to community events and sports games, use of company property like beachfront or lakeside cabins, and reimbursement for your travel expenses. Working from home is also becoming a popular benefit because it is cheaper for the company to have employees work from their own homes and employees love it because they can work in comfort, save money on their work wardrobe, and have the ability to care for their children while they work. If you are searching for employment, take into consideration more than just what you will be paid per hour.

Vet techs need formal training and accreditation for the job due to the many technical demands of this profession. Technical skills needed by the veterinary technician include, among others, venipuncture, performing skin scrapings, doing radiology procedures, hematology, microbiology, urinalysis and serology.

Veterinary techs perform a variety of tasks, both clinical and technical, in veterinary clinics, research laboratories, animal shelters, and zoos. They assist veterinarians in doing physical examinations and help in determining causes of illness or injury. Tasks related to patient care include recording of temperature, pulse and respiration, dressing wounds, applying splints and other protective devices, and cleaning animals’ teeth. Administrative tasks include maintaining treatment records and conducting inventories of all pharmaceuticals, equipment and supplies.

Vet technicians also do minor procedures such as catheterizations, ear flushes, intravenous feedings and tube feedings. In surgery, they assist the veterinarian by providing anesthesia, providing the correct surgical equipment and instruments, and ensuring that the monitoring and support equipment are in good working condition.

Vet techs need to have the proper training and certification for the job. They need to complete a degree in veterinary technology, which can either be a two-year associate’s degree or a four-year bachelor’s degree. These degrees are accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association. The AVMA also accredits schools that offer online or distance education. An important requirement for accreditation of these learning programs is the provision of on-the-job or volunteer hours at an animal clinic or similar facility.

After obtaining a degree in veterinary technology, the aspiring veterinary technicians need to pass credentialing examinations given by the state. In the United States, the credentialing examination, called the Veterinary Technical National Exam of VTNE, is administered either by a US licensing board, the state veterinary medical association, or by the state veterinary technical association. The title of the credential that a successful examinee gets will depend on the state and the type of organization granting the credential. Thus the veterinary technician may be described as licensed (LVT or Licensed Veterinary Technician), registered (RVT), or certified (CVT). Only those who have been properly certified may represent themselves as veterinary technicians and perform their required tasks in assisting the licensed veterinarian.

Aside from the initial mandatory credentialing, veterinary technicians may also enroll in advanced courses to further enhance their skills. These courses may be in the areas of emergency and critical care, anesthesiology, dentistry, small animal internal medicine, large animal internal medicine, cardiology, oncology, neurology, zoological medicine, equine veterinary nursing, surgery, behavior, and clinical practice. They become Veterinary Technician Specialists (VTS) upon completion of such courses.

Veterinary technology is a fairly young profession, having officially started only in the mid-20th century. It is still struggling to gain recognition in many parts of the world. In the United States, career opportunities continue to increase, with a projected rise by more than 36 percent up to 2012.

1. If you know that there are many firms of solicitors either where you live, or where you work, then you might want to see if they have the position that you’re looking for.

2. There might be a firm of nationally solicitors that you’d like to work for, and so you might want to see if they are recruiting for a role that you would be suitable for, and interested in.

3. Even in this day and age, you might still be lucky and find your dream job in one of your local newspapers. Perhaps you want to work for a more traditional firm of solicitors, who wouldn’t think of advertising their jobs anywhere else but in the paper.

4. National newspapers often advertise legal positions, and so you might find something suitable, especially if you’re already in a big city, or prepared to move house.

5. It’s not unthinkable that you might find your next legal job through word of mouth or via your friends and family. Somebody’s always moving house, or getting divorced, and so using a firm of solicitors. They might have seen an advert, or overheard someone on the train talking about needing to recruit a solicitor. Why not make the most of your contacts too?

6. General recruitment websites can be extremely effective when looking for jobs, and offer the ability to search using lots of different criteria. By having suitable jobs emailed to you on a daily basis, you’re bound to be able to find a better job.

7. Legal websites might also have information about practices that are expanding, or taking on new solicitors for a particular case, or branching out into different areas of the law. Why not keep your eye on what’s going on in the legal world and see if you can get a new job this way?

8. Solicitors’ websites also have recruitment pages, so if you know that you’d like to work in a particular town, why not see if any of the solicitors there are hiring?

9. Perhaps you know exactly who you’d like to work for, or where, and s o you might want to send off on spec applications, to see if anyone can offer you the legal job you’re looking for.

10. One of the more effective ways, is to use a specialised legal recruitment website. This means that you are only dealing with legal jobs, rather than any job that mentions legal or law, or is a job at a firm of solicitors. You might have specific skills, experience and qualifications, and know exactly what role you want, and so this might be your best chance of getting your dream job.

There are different types of electrician training, there is Green energy training, electrician training, solar, and electrical engineer training to name a few. The importance of electrical training is that it will provide an ongoing fresh crop of researchers, which in turn will allow for new ideas and innovation in the field of renewable energy. This will in the long run increase our current productivity by creating jobs that can further propel the economy. After all the more stuff there is to manufacture and install, the more people we need to do it.

The world is in the midst of an energy crisis. There is just not enough fossil fuel to sustain our current rate of usage, and sooner rather than later, we will run out. Unlike many other forms of energy fossil fuels are nonrenewable. What this means is that when it is gone, it is gone for good. Because of this there are massive ongoing efforts around the globe to help create and sustain alternate energy sources.

With the proper electrician training a person can easily support himself, and his family. The amount of jobs available for a person with electrical training are too many to list, but some examples would be: electrical contractor, an electrical engineer (someone who designs systems), or electric grid operators. The pay for a person with the proper electrical training ranges from mid 20’s a year all the way up to nearly 500,000 a year.

Electrical training is easily achieved by either enrolling in a typical University, Technical school, or one can get a degree online. One should expect to spend two to six years studying before a degree is achieved, and once that occurs the next step is to apply for an apprentice job, so that the classroom, or book knowledge can then be applied to the outside world.

Now once one has entered the work force, your electrical training shouldn’t stop. There are always different ways one could assess a problem and fix that problem. Also there will be new technology and new skills that you may need to learn. So once you start down the road with electrical training understand that if you want your career to grow and you are looking for advancement, then knowledge is the key; and the more electrical training you have, the better your career outlook will be.

In the performance evaluation it is required to review the goals set in the last evaluation. If it has not been done yet, it is the best time to evaluate. What is all the more important is that, the employee must be sure of the goals. And then ensure whether they have been able to fulfill the expectations or not.

Next, you should fill in the performance evaluation paper according to the instructions. These are often numerical and needs to be filled by numbers. Penning down your comments is another good idea. While doing so, you can point to various examples and substances. It is a good idea to share this evaluation paper with your employee in a private meeting.

As this is going to be shared, use civil languages while putting down the comments. Make sure that your employer understands your logic and provides you with an opportunity for the necessary feedback. Chalk down the goals you want to set for the next term or year. And make sure that the employer agrees on them and it is a joint decision.

Generally the signature of the employer is required. These were the rules about how to write a performance evaluation. The following are the method of answering a performance evaluation.

First, consider the feedback you have received. This must be done not only from your own point of view but also from think about how to approach the goals by your work.

Generally a performance evaluation comes with a response letter too. But if the employer and the employee are in agreement with the goals then no response is required. Write your answers in relation with the goals, and if any of the goals are left unfulfilled, then it is a good time to reconsider them.

Once you are done with them, recheck it and sit with the supervisor to go through it, if you feel that it will boost the team work up. If there were disagreements regarding the answers goals or focus then ensure that there is clarity in it as it will influence the entire term. Performance evaluations are good because it opens the forum for a better discussion for what your team is working for.

The feedback should be clear and positive toned to ensure that it is a constructive one and there will be better chances for the goals being fulfilled.
