The primary benefit of taking advantage of the existence of the many schools for learning while you are in the country is the immersion factor. When you have lessons in the morning and then are left to either wander beautiful cities and museums putting into practice what you learned just hours before it reinforces the lessons like not amount of study can. The smiles you will get from Italians for the effort taken to learn their language are an additional reward. From constantly responding to and asking questions to ordering coffee to listening to the radio and watching TV; you will absorb pronunciation and idiomatic expression in a way you just can not accomplish elsewhere. A simple, but yet effective money management lesson is to teach children how to write checks and balance a checkbook. It may not be as glamorous as teaching stocks or mutual funds, but will provide practical experience for children of all socioeconomic backgrounds. In a recent study, 87% of the US adult population or 172 million people use a checking account to pay bills. In today’s world, it may seem that the concept of using paper checks to pay bills is falling to wayside with the onset of ATM / debit cards, direct deposit and electronic funds transfers (EFT). Do not be fooled. The Federal Reserve Bank is predicting to process 50 billion paper checks in 2003. The Nilson Report also states that the volume of paper checks will rise between 2% – 4% each year, through 2020.

A successful lesson plan can help a child develop the foundation necessary to build important money management skills that they will need through out their lifetime. Understanding basic financial tools, will help students manage their money, stay within budget and problem solve. Timothy Liptrap, a co-author of the 68 page lesson plan How to Write Checks states “students, who understand how to budget, spend and manage their money, will be better off than many adults in today’s world.”

According to Liptrap, Teachers who create their own lessons should “keep the lesson plan practical” while teaching conceptual skills. “Each month when a parent sits down to pay the bills, they should have their child pull-up a seat to assist and learn. A lesson plan should replicate this experience in the classroom by providing practice checks, bank statements, mock invoices and check registers for each student.”

Good Tone Production: This requires not only having a good reed, mouthpiece and ligature, but also a good daily regimen of “long tone” exercises. Long tones are practiced by playing individual tones for a comfortable length of time (6-8 seconds) without stress. For beginners I suggest playing long tones on a simple major scale. Advanced students should use a chromatic scale, octaves and intervals of the perfect fourths and fifths over the full range of the instrument.

Good Intonation: I suggest using a combination of the following tools: a well-tuned piano, an electronic tuner and a good ear-training course. If you haven’t taken part in an ear training – NOW’S THE TIME! To be able to play in tune requires the ability to distinguish intervals and musical passages correctly and accurately. This is an invaluable skill for every good musician.

Good Technical Ability: This means practicing your scales, arpeggios and whatever other studies you have available regularly! “Repetition is the Mother of Skill”. Not only regularly but also logically. Which means you must develop…

Good Practicing Skills: Often music students get into the habit of playing an exercise or study over and over again, first at a slow pace and eventually faster and that is called “practicing”! There is much more to practicing than that. You must learn to hear and sing the melodies that are being practiced. You must isolate “problem” (rhythmically or technically) passages. Above all, you must develop a regimen and method of practicing and become acutely sensitive to monitoring progress. This takes time and experimentation and perhaps a little bit of research.

Last but not least: before you even start playing or practicing you need a good warm-up. The warm-up starts out as basic as first relaxing your arms and shoulders, stretching the fingers, deep breathing to expand the lungs and make sure you have a standing or sitting posture that supports your breathing and does not disrupt it. Education! From its genuine purpose, is the first and last constitution of humanness, is where our human element start and finally, the one that we will leave this human world with.

From the matter of fact, there is nothing that can change the courses of human life; positively and negatively, materially and spiritually, than the education does. Imagine how have the education benefited those who have it and know how to use it and the danger of those who are educationally absentminded.

The world ‘education’ does not single-mindedly refer to one granted from academic institution, but refer to the education that does fill the purpose of humanness and that finally make human intentionally adequate. The everything-ness of education, in this sense, will only apply to those who use education for spiritual purpose and who really know the genuine point of education.

The value of education does not apply to those who have and will have Bachelor’s, Master’s or Doctorate degree, but it only apply to those who understand or are looking forward to the innate meaning and the sole purpose of education. Education is everything, because the purpose contained in education is also the purpose of human being.

The purpose of this article is not to explain innate genuineness of education, but it would serve as the thinking-syndication for those searching for education for spiritual or material prosperity.

Do well – If you’re serious about a future career you need to be serious about your classes too. You want to make sure you get good grades and pass all your classes exceeding the minimum grade you can get. If you do poorly in the class not only will you most likely end up dropping it but you’ll loose a lot of money in the end. Also if you do drop it you will realize you just sat in the class, miserable for nothing.

Be there – When you sign up for a class you find out what days and times you need to be there. Since you know this information, do what it says. Going to class is one of the most important things in college. If you miss just one day you may be missing a pop quiz, a very important lecture or your attendance may go against you. Often in college professors mark you down for attendance and if you have so many they can fail you.

Professor – Be sure you talk with your professor and ask any questions you want. When we pay for our classes we also pay for the professors so take advantage of them! They’ve learned everything you’re learning so ask them questions. Stay after class or ask during class what ever works for you. Your professor is your best source in college so ask away.

Textbook – You pay such a high price for the book so make sure you use it. Your textbook can be just as good as getting information from your professor. Also a book is always something you can refer to so take advantage of it and get your money’s worth.

There is a lot you can do in college to make sure you get your money’s worth. College is a very expensive thing and is also very important. If you want to get the most out of college be sure you keep the ideas above in mind.

The college buzzer rings signaling the start of the first information session and you join the herd of other college students fresh out of their last year of high school, looking around for just a glimpse of anyone you might know, somebody that you could talk to and perhaps enjoy your college days with, to no avail. The college information session begins and as it continues, you sink into your chair as they ramable off all the general stuff that you already knew, because you studied the college handbook as required before attending. You are thinking what all this college stuff is about.

College is about the closing of one chapter of your life, and the beginning of another. It’s a time of expanding and growing into adulthood. There is a lot of focus on the higher education aspects of attending college, and it’s really much more than that.

College is a time to get to know who you are, and what you may want to do in your life. College gives you an opportunity to spread your wings, and learn about things which serve and support you in a “safe” environment. College is a time to network, and relationship with other people.

Some of the most important questions you can ask yourself is What do I like? What am I interested in? What subject do I lose myself in? There will be some required courses and those may not jazz you, but your major should be something that fits like a glove. If you are unsure, don’t commit to any one course of direction until you have determined that. There is an abundance of college options, so take your time in choosing the one that best suits your needs. It will save you a lot of time and money and aggravation, in the long run!

“Blue” language can actually be a virtually harmless coping mechanism…as long as you know your audience and respect them. Venting with a few spicy words here and there, in a safe setting, can actually be very freeing for you. After all, words really only the have the power we give them, and most four-letter words are derived from acronyms (e.g., Ship High in Transit was a mariner’s manure cargo label) and from dialectical origins. As well, when we over-use certain words, they lose their power.

In addition to being a fairly socially acceptable stress reliever, swearing can be cultural, attention-getting, rebellious, or sexual. It can be driven by passion, amazement, and of course, anger. Vocal tone, body language, and the energy behind the words are more telling about one’s attitude and intent than actual words. We exclaim with “colorful words” on such joyous occasions as flying down a roller coaster, beholding a natural wonder. When anger is predominantly driving your swearing, then it can actually increase your anger and anxiety. With repetition, it reinforces the grooves in the neuronal pathways, and causes your anger, literally, to deepen. Of course, this means if you have a positive association to swear words, it will deepen your enjoyment of them!

When used discriminately, it can be a wonderful outlet for stress. Look at your 401(k) statement; you are stuck in traffic on your way to a job interview; picture Ruth Madoff sitting in her Manhattan penthouse; AIG’s bonuses. If your commentary on these situations is fit for broadcast on CNN, then I applaud you. If you can honestly get stress relief from “Oh, blast! This is truly an undesirable situation!” you can actually minimize the anxiety, anger, and hasten its dissipation.

Swear words generally fall into three categories: Deistic: “Oh, My God!” and the ever-popular “G-D—” expression. Or condemning someone to hell (and of course the legendary combination of the last two.) Visceral: body parts and functions (pleasant or un-). Interesting how we denigrate our most life-affirming act and favorite body parts, huh? Not to mention the incestual suggestions (“MoFo”)! Sometimes we combine the deistic and the visceral (Holy S—!) Racial. I won’t even dignify these with abbreviations, for personally, I find these the most profane of all.

So, if you enjoy making truck drivers blush, knock yourself out. If you are out of control – - can’t choose cleaner words around children, those whom you know it offends, in a business meeting, or on the air – - then you might want to seek help for impulse control or anger management. Start reading fine literature and expanding your language skills. Vocabularies limited to the lower levels offend some people more than others. Again, just know your audience. It’s all in the ear of the beholder. We all have boundaries to be respected: physical, sexual, ethical, visual, olfactory, tactile, and auditory.

If you think I’m defending swearing here, well, hell, you are garl-durn abso-fricking-lutely entitled to prefer higher English!

Try to identify the subjects that require a lot more learning than some of your other chosen subjects, plus highlight the areas that you feel weaker in, try to work on these. As the more time and effort you give to these weaker subjects, the more you will start to feel your confidence grow around these subjects or areas of study. Also highlight these within your weekly study plan, so you make sure that you allow enough time for these subjects.

Other factors to focus on with your exam study revision regime is to break down your study time into small pieces of optimum time, depending on what time of day is best for you to take in the desired study information. Remember little and often is usually best, with breaks between at least ten minutes to half an hour. Try to use various study materials, break up the routine to keep it interesting. Try memory cards or notes around the house or your room with key word bullet points or short paragraphs to summarise key points or equations. Try to test your newly retained knowledge by using past exam or mock exam papers.

Lastly, it might sound old fashioned or something like your parents might say; but remember to get a good amount of rest, with early nights to bed, eat well including brain foods like fish and plenty of fruit & vegetables to make sure you get your weekly intake of vitamins. So good luck with your exam revision and for getting through the exam period, remember it will be worth in the end.
