HVAC is a solid career for which there will always be a need. However, working in 120 degree attics and 5 degree crawlspaces is not much fun, but comes with the territory. When you first decide that you are serious about wanting to become a plumber you will want to decide whether or not you will join your local plumbers union. In most major cities there are plumbers unions. These organizations work to protect the rights of workers concerning issues such as working conditions, wages, and benefits. To be a member of a union you will need to pay an initial fee to join and then pay monthly dues which are taken directly form your paycheck. These days most professional plumbers belong to their area union. If you decide to be part of your area union you will need to contact then and put in an application for an apprenticeship.
