1. If you know that there are many firms of solicitors either where you live, or where you work, then you might want to see if they have the position that you’re looking for.

2. There might be a firm of nationally solicitors that you’d like to work for, and so you might want to see if they are recruiting for a role that you would be suitable for, and interested in.

3. Even in this day and age, you might still be lucky and find your dream job in one of your local newspapers. Perhaps you want to work for a more traditional firm of solicitors, who wouldn’t think of advertising their jobs anywhere else but in the paper.

4. National newspapers often advertise legal positions, and so you might find something suitable, especially if you’re already in a big city, or prepared to move house.

5. It’s not unthinkable that you might find your next legal job through word of mouth or via your friends and family. Somebody’s always moving house, or getting divorced, and so using a firm of solicitors. They might have seen an advert, or overheard someone on the train talking about needing to recruit a solicitor. Why not make the most of your contacts too?

6. General recruitment websites can be extremely effective when looking for jobs, and offer the ability to search using lots of different criteria. By having suitable jobs emailed to you on a daily basis, you’re bound to be able to find a better job.

7. Legal websites might also have information about practices that are expanding, or taking on new solicitors for a particular case, or branching out into different areas of the law. Why not keep your eye on what’s going on in the legal world and see if you can get a new job this way?

8. Solicitors’ websites also have recruitment pages, so if you know that you’d like to work in a particular town, why not see if any of the solicitors there are hiring?

9. Perhaps you know exactly who you’d like to work for, or where, and s o you might want to send off on spec applications, to see if anyone can offer you the legal job you’re looking for.

10. One of the more effective ways, is to use a specialised legal recruitment website. This means that you are only dealing with legal jobs, rather than any job that mentions legal or law, or is a job at a firm of solicitors. You might have specific skills, experience and qualifications, and know exactly what role you want, and so this might be your best chance of getting your dream job.

Especially that the economy is struggling and unemployment and retrenchment is prevalent, losing a job is the last thing in your mind.

Here are some dos and don’ts of how to keep your job:

1. Do your job well. If you don’t like your job it is obvious in your performance so make a good output from your work.
2. Don’t complain for some trivial and nonsense reasons.
3. Do make your boss updated of the activities you are into, most especially the major projects you are finishing.
4. Don’t even think about gossiping. Don’t make gossip about your coworker just because you are envious that she’s always wearing designer clothes.
5. Don’t be negative about anything. Don’t say anything bad against your office that can be heard from the next room or better yet if you don’t have anything good to say just shut your mouth. It’s safer that way.
6. Do focus on maintaining current skills and certifications. Update yourself to new a skill that has a relation from your work.
7. Don’t grab the limelight. Make certain that your boss knows of the accomplishments you have made, but make certain the team also is acknowledge.
8. Don’t be a back stabber to your co-workers.
9. Do make your mind to be open to any possibility. You may be asked to work two jobs or ask to take on some responsibilities that you have never done just go for it. You need to be flexible and open to any situation just to secure your position in the company.
10. Don’t demand a raise from your salary or a promotion. If the organization is struggling and workers are being laid off, you will regard as callous.
11. Do come earlier in your workplace and neat looking. This is your chance to wear the Trina Turk dresses you ordered and look strong.
12. Don’t lose sight of your goals. Although, you might feel confined from your present job, remain focused on your long-term job and career plans.
13. Don’t advertise if you are looking for a new job.

A lot of of us are facing hardship maximizing efforts to protect and keep our jobs even the ones that we may not certainly like or enjoy. At this time of economic downturn we don’t have the luxury to choose and lose our job. It’s important that we have patience and learn to love our work considering that finding work is difficult. Our attitude is the status of our mind, how we feel about our job as well as the people we work with. The quality of our work is the mirror of our attitude, and our superiors based their judgement on us from our output if we are worth to be retained in the company. By following this advice, no question we will be staying much longer in our workplace or we can keep our job.

Many companies are hell-bent on hiring employees with just the right experience in all the right areas. It’s hard to find good workers these days, and companies will often do whatever it takes to get the exact right person with the exact right skills into the position that they have available. However, a growing trend in the business world is hiring people without experience. There are a variety of reasons that companies do this, and many different reasons that previous experience can actually be a hindrance, but it is ultimately something that you need to look into with each job that you apply for.

The reasons that companies like to hire inexperienced people number into the dozens. The overall consensus, though, is that people without experience will be easier to train because they don’t have preconceived notions about how things are supposed to work. They also don’t have comfort in their old ways, so they’ll be more adaptable and less likely to cause problems by reverting to the ways of their previous jobs. The ideal employee, for any company, is the one who can demonstrate his or her skills and abilities on the job without putting their comfortable old ways into the picture. Someone who is easily trained is far more valuable than someone who has years of experience.

Companies want people to do things their way. Therefore, if someone has too much previous experience, they might not be able to do this for a company. It might take twice as long to train them, or longer, and they still might try to tell you that they’ve always done things a certain way with good result, so they shouldn’t have to change their ways. Unfortunately, good experience creates habits, and bad habits can definitely impact a company that is looking to acquire new people. If you don’t have the experience that you think that you need for a particular job, don’t worry. Simply point out why that’s an asset for the company, and how easily trainable you are. They will likely see you in a much more positive light that way.

Sometimes, you do need previous experience to prove that you have the ability to do a particular job because companies don’t have time to train you completely. If this is the case, don’t let that experience translate into old habits that aren’t positive for the company or changeable. You want to offer the abilities and skills needed, as well as the ability to be trained or change your ways if necessary. Whether you need experience for a job or not will ultimately be up to the hiring manager, but not having it isn’t always a bad thing.

The first step in getting a job is therefore hope, without the hope that you will be successful in getting what you want, you will end up giving up on all efforts to achieve your goals. Then write a good and attractive curriculum vitae and a good cover letter. Make sure you get a friend to proof read your work so that you do not send an application and resume full of mistakes.

The next step will be to choose a job search method; you can use the door to door method where you will have to move from one office to another or the predictive method which involves hand picking a few areas where you suspect a presence of jobs.

Make sure you see the human resource manager or the hiring officer by yourself. Very many receptionists are not faithful with peoples applications. Always insist on seeing the hiring officer and present your case to them.

Register with recruitment agencies and out sourcing firms. Though many of them may charge you or even take part of your salary, it is better than not having a job. Recruitment agencies normally get job offers from many employers who you may not be able to meet when using the door to door job search method.

Lastly, tell you friend about your need for a job, many of them may be able to link you to others who may have job offers. There are many people today who continue to get jobs through friends.

All official job forecasts for the immediate future indicate that a 10% unemployment rate will be with us for quite a while. There are simply not as many jobs in the U.S. as there used to be. While we can argue about why that is, it doesn’t help the over 40 person who’s looking for employment right now.

The fact is, the country is in a time of great transition from the traditional manufacturing society, to one that is increasingly automated and “do-it-yourself” oriented. This means that there’s less jobs which require human minds and bodies to manually do things.

Many service jobs have been shipped overseas and will never return. If you’re over 40, you may have started your work career in either a service or manufacturing job which no longer exists, or is really hard to find these days.

In this current economic environment, large employers are shedding workers and small employers are struggling to find money to expand and hire more workers. This all makes finding a job for people over 40 even harder.

Yet, giving up should never be an option. If you’re savvy and persistent, you can greatly increase your odds of landing a good position. Here are some tips to keep in mind:

What Are You Really Interested In Doing?

This is a really good question to ask yourself at this stage in your working life. By this time, you’ve spent many years doing specific job tasks. Now’s the time to figure out if you want to do the same type of work, or, is there something else you’d really like to do, but just never went for it?

If you’re interested in going in a new direction, find out what kind of skills and training you’ll need to have for that type of job. Because you’re unemployed, you have an opportunity to do some job training. There are websites that offer free and paid training. Or, visit your local job training center.

Your willingness to learn new things and to get training shows that you can easily adopt to a new type of position.

Get into Networking 2.0

If you’re not already on a social networking site, go ahead and open up an account and create your own space. Many positions these days aren’t found by traditional means, but by meeting people through social networking. If you’re clueless about how to sign up with one, there are several good books and websites that can walk you through the process.

This is no longer optional. Having a social networking page or a blog of your own, shows a potential employer that you’re keeping up to date with the latest technological trends. Plus, it’s a great way to meet people like yourself who are going through this tough unemployment phase.

Revitalize Your Look

Put on your interview clothes and take a look in the mirror and really scrutinize yourself. This is what a potential employer will see when you walk in the door looking to be hired.

You’re already at a disadvantage because you’re not an eager 20-something. So, what can you do to instantly convey that you’re just as eager to get to work as your younger counterpart?

A quick way is to overhaul your professional look. And, let me just say right now that people DO judge a book by it’s cover – even if we learn we’re not supposed to do that. An employer may take one look at you and see an “older” person, therefore triggering an instant bias.

Giving yourself a mini makeover will make you feel good, while appearing more youthful at the same time. So, if you’ve been wearing the same old, style of haircut forever, go to the salon and get something that looks fabulous on you. If you’ve got a little gray, consider getting your hair color treated. Remember, in this tough environment you need every little advantage you can get.

Buy a new interview outfit and make sure it’s tailored to fit properly. Get your teeth whitened and learn to walk with your shoulders up straight. Practice smiling in the mirror and greeting your interviewer. First impressions are everything.

The problem with freelancing is, that most buyers make their decision on the rating of the applicants. That’s really understandable as, let’s be honest, we would too, wouldn’t we? So if you have zero feedback on a particular freelancer site the chance is very small to win a bid. There are still some important points you should consider when you apply to these jobs.

1. Only apply for jobs you have the skills

Many people who are new in the world of freelancing don’t even know what their skills are. They just apply for every job opportunity they can find and hope to make quick and easy bucks online. Of course if you bid on 100 projects, there’s a big chance that you win some of them. If you applied for a job you don’t have the skills for, you are in deep trouble. If you can’t meet the specified criteria of the buyers they firstly don’t pay you any money (which is clear) and secondly, give you a bad feedback. Bad feedback is a real pain in this business and if you are new in the business with only one negative feedback, you won’t come very far. So to prevent this you should only bid on jobs where you are 100% certain that you can fulfill all the specified requirements.

2. Read the requirements carefully

To not carefully check all the requirements of a single job offer is a common mistake new freelancers make. It’s crucial that you understood everything before you bid on a specific project. If there’s something you’re not sure about, don’t hesitate to ask the buyer for further information. This also helps to clear things up and also gives the buyer the feel that you are actually reading all requirements! That’s a crucial part.

3. Do not give up!

It can be really frustrating if you finally found some job offers you are interested in and don’t get the jobs. But that’s part of the game and the least you should do in these stages is giving up! If you keep bidding on the jobs you have the skills for, keep applying. As soon as you have a bit feedback in your are of expertise then it will be much easier for you in the future.

Jobs are an important part of our life as they provide us financial security and stability. And if you are living in a country that has a high rate of unemployment problems than the importance of jobs grows considerably.

Most of the time people do not think about switching jobs regularly as it creates a bad impression on their professional profile that they are not stable employees and will certainly move to another company in the future. However, many factors like no salary raise, bad office environment, too much of workload force an employee to change their job even if they do not want to.

So if you are in such a position where you are thinking of changing your job once again, you need to think about various situations like are you ready to change your job mentally, financially and your next step after resigning from this job.

Before you change your job you need to ask yourself if you are really ready to leave this job mentally as it might take a little time to find another job and that would leave you unemployed for many days. Also you need to think that you will be hit financially as there will be no pay for those days when you are unemployed and that will hit your bank balance. Additionally, you have to plan for your future job and what kind of job change you are looking for.
